who is my target audience?

After the survey we came to a conclusion about our target audience, and what audience theories we are going to use.

The age group for our target audience is going to be oder teen from age 15 to 18. Through our survey we found out that many people in this age bracket would like watching a psychological thriller or a film that includes mental health issues.

We would also be having a niche audience as according to our survey not everyone would want to watch a psychological thriller and would enjoy it as only people with particular interests and liking would want to watch the opening sequence.

We would also like to have an active audience, so that they are able to interpret it a way they want to as each person can have different perspectives to the same thing and the same thing could also affect they differently thus, an active audience is more suitable for such a topic.

For the audience theories we want to use the gratification theory and the reception theory. The gratification theory suggests that the audience is free to interpret a text, and it could be watched for their own gratification or pleasure and only if they want to. We are thinking about adding a secret element to the opening sequence which will be implied in an indirect way. Thus we are also using reception theory, so that the audience can decode the message.
