To begin with.. a media piece is not something you create for yourself, it is something that you create for your audience and something that the audience will like. To create something the audience likes you have to research on what the audience likes.
WHAT IS RESEARCH?
By definition, it is the study of different mass media on the social, psychological and physical aspects of the people.

We require research to understand our consumers and their tastes, most importantly their psyche. Research also makes us understand the pattern of the market changes, which can be significantly important while creating our media product. we also understand the current trends in the media industry and what kind of media products have been accepted well by the audience and which ones have not been. most importantly, it helps us design one's own media product in a way that it will be well accepted and like by the audience and is something that they enjoyed their time on and not wasted it. by research we will also know about how well different marketing strategies work better on the audience.

TYPES OF DATA

Quantitative data, is data that can be measure numerically and is precise and accurate and that can also be represented in charts and graphs.
RESEARCH CAN BE USED FOR...
Research is importantly used to find out and collect information about the target audience and their type of lifestyle and wether how would consume the media product on different platforms.
But also market research is also used to develop a media product, by analysing if there are similar products in the market and how successful they have been.
