On a general.. what is audience? Audience is anyone who consumes media in any form. And thus, our audience is very important, as there would be no profit in creating the product that no one would use or consume.

Thus, it is also necessary for us to study audience. As it will help us to predict how the audience would react and if they would consume such a media product, and to understand that I did conduct a survey which I have discussed about in my previous blog post.
A new term- AUDIENCE PROFILING.
By definition audience profiling is the process of defining exactly who your target customer is, by monitoring consumer buying behaviour across various platforms.
Audience profiling will help us find out the right target audience, and how there nature is like. it will also help find out how they would perceive our product.
TARGET AUDIENCE?
The target audience would be what kind of people would consume a product. For example there is an ad present on a woman's day offer of a woman's perfume. the ad would encourage men or children to buy perfume for there mother/wife/sister/girlfriend as a woman's day gift. Thus, for this example men/children who have a mother/wife/sister/girlfriend become the target audience.
what is AUDIENCE CLASSIFICATION?
You can classify audience in 2 ways:
Psychographics
Demographics
Psychographics is the kind of lifestyle they live and what their characteristics might be.
Demographics is would be more like their identity for example, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, regional identity, etc.
Different TYPES OF AUDIENCE?
There are different ways of classifying different types of audience
firstly, there is-
Mass audience which includes anyone who consumes any form of media (practically most people on this planet)
Niche audience are people with unique and specific interests and would only consume the product if it interests them.
Individual audience is hard and rare to find and is some thing made for a person specifically according to what they would like.
There is also active and passive audience
A passive audience completely accepts and believes in what the message is being sent to them without questioning it.
Active audience would connect with media text and could make their interpretations of it based on personal experiences and identity.
In my next blog post I will be discussing different types of audience theories.
