prop prop

Writer's picture: Tanya.Tanya.

props are required as they join the continuity of the story and gives more definition, depth and meaning to the character depending on the prop they own. props can also portray the social status and the lifestyle of the characters and speaks a lot about their personality. props can also be motifs and can sometimes be characters themselves, and can sometimes be the centre of attention of the story.

the first prop that we will be using is a school bag(backpack), that will help indicate that Zia is a student. that bag we will be using is a rather expensive popular brand of bags among the teenagers. by doing this will are being able to determine the social status of her family and how much they care about doing the best for her.

the next prop that we use a set of two electronics present in the same scene, an iPhone 8 and a MacBook air. we will not spend any money on obtaining these devices as the MacBook is the laptop that I am currently typing on as has been used by me since about a few years now, and we also plan to borrow my mother's phone during the shoot. these 2 items also indicate their social status, as a family in the upper class as these devices and both from one huge reputed company, that is known for producing expensive, high-quality products, loved by most people across the globe.

the third prop is also in the same scene being the food that they are eating and the cutlery and the table set up while they are eating. that is not really focused on in the scene but are present.

in the last scene is the presence of the 3 main props that are to move the scene forward, the cutter, chart paper and fake blood. as for the cutter and the chart paper, we will buy from a normal crafts store and would cost around 80 rupees. for the fake blood, we plan to either use food colouring or ketchup or a mixture of the two to give a real effect.
