Writer's picture: Tanya.Tanya.

Working title- Z

genre- Psychological thriller and drama

duration- 2 minutes

target audience- 15 to 18 males and females, who are interested in mental health and have lots of relatability to the main character as in age and time period, and understand the problems the characters might face and are more open to the ideas on mental health and are more socially accepting and open-minded.

outline- a girl, who is struggling in life due to social anxiety, finds it hard to communicate with peers, teachers and parents due to a trauma that she suffered from in her childhood until things change for her.

character breakdown- the protagonist- Zia(female) is a girl suffering from anxiety due to the trauma she faced in her childhood. She gives out a dark aura and does not smile. She has gloomy expressions and weak body language as she is always hunching, she also always wears a dark jacket that makes sure she is covered till the middle of her fingers. She is fidgety and her hand tremble and her temples sweat when she is anxious. She does not like showing her skin.

visual elements-

  • lighting- low and natural

  • camera movements- pans and still shots, those with movement are pretty fast

  • editing- using program premiere pro with mainly straight cuts

  • actors- auditions were held and Arayana Dasgupta was chosen as the best and the suitable actor out of those who came for the audition.

  • props- we don't use many props, the few that we use our a school bag, silverware, technical gadgets such as an iPhone and a MacBook and a cutter and a chart paper

  • costume- for Zia, she mainly wears a school uniform the mother and brother wear clothes appropriate for an office and work

rationale- both the topics (anxiety and child abuse) are something very close to my heart, being a person who suffered from anxiety in the past due to other reasons and also suffered from child abuse, I want to spread awareness and show that it is a major problem in today's society and that it should not be looked away from.

primary and secondary research- survey, interview with counsellor and psychiatrist/psychologist, student interviews, classroom research, opening sequence analysis, books and online research

budget- 10,000 rupees only
