a cinematographer or Director of Photography is the head of the light and camera crew and makes artistic and technical decisions. the study and practice of this field are also known as cinematography.
I have filmed many things before, but not it specifically being related to my topic or in the intention to produce something that is worthwhile watching. I shot the majority of the scenes on the script except for the last 2, that was shot in school and were shot by Svea. being the DOP have me a sense of responsibility on the lighting and framing of each and every frame.
I tried to keep my framing as symmetrical as possible. in a few scenes, I also tried to apply the rule of thirds where it would be applied and also tried to keep the pattern. I also wanted to try to use depth of field, where I could use the pull focus but there were no such scenes where I could use it.
I to use close up and mid shots for Zia and there were no sudden camera movements as such but we used the pan in one of the scenes. in the end, there was a high-level eye-line shot where Zia would supposedly look at the mysterious person standing in front of her. for the scenes with Zia and her family on the dining table, I took a lot of over the shoulder shots. there were also a few handheld shots used. Svea also used the tilt in the scene where she starts bleeding.
we mainly used incandescent and fluorescent lighting which were already present at the location and there was no extra light as such that was used. we tried to control the light and let the light feel a little blue rather than yellow or incandescent lighting to give a rather cold effect. we tried to use low-key lighting, but it would not work as it would become too dark for the scene and we would be able to capture the actor's action properly.
